about
THEME:
The Shattering is the first part of a larger thematic and conceptual opus (EP in the works) that is centered around an individual’s battle for freedom against the powers that be while also dealing with immense personal loss.
On one hand it’s a microcosm of the world around us. On the other hand, it’s an explicit ode to the human spirit that journeys back and forth between darkness and light, weakness and strength, defeat and victory.
lyrics
Tides of time remember the brave, they said
Hand on a pen, more than her daily bread
Her words, a voice; this was her choice
Staying defiant, could she stay silent
They’re coming for me, she said
To crush dissent, to leave me dead
Could the tree last this storm, its angry and red
A beacon of hope
In this world gone rogue
A beacon of hope
A trickle of tears, as fortitude met fears
A click later, in this garden of reason, she lay tried for treason
A beacon of hope
It lay down, so dead, so cold
This beacon of hope
Aaaaaahhh …
No strength in my bones
My love, no more
Spirit fades
A stream of blood
Flows down mother’s head
Me eyes growing heavy
My soul’s in spate
I am fighting to fathom
Is this real? Or just a shadow
On this stormy night …
I am dreaming tonight
Please tell me I’m right
Ghastly nightmares, and gory visions
Won’t this pass me by
Now she lies in hollow sleep
A chill runs down my back, so deep
Where is her second coming?
Cuz this is a rude awakening
Shrieks and shouts, out of my mouth
I’m wading through a lake of doubt
Mother dear, don’t leave me here
Without you, I’m dead right here, right now
Yanks and yells they fall apart
A poison dart straight through my heart
This beacon lay fallen, leaving me crawling
Sinking deeper, deeper into the dark
